SURFAID COMPLETES MAJOR TSUNAMI RECOVERY WORK Wednesday 7 December 2011 After an intense year of work, SurfAid has completed the major projects of our Tsunami Recovery Program in the Mentawai Islands since the 25 October 2010 disaster. After our initial Emergency Response, seven recovery projects ran simultaneously across three islands, three of which were implemented by SurfAid partners YRSM (Yayasan Reimar Schefold Mentawai), arche noVa and IBU Foundation. read more ... |

| Since being founded in 2000, SurfAid’s programs in Indonesia have been saving thousands of lives in isolated communities in the Mentawai and Nias islands off Sumatra. Programs include malaria prevention, water and sanitation, health and nutrition, and emergency preparedness to respond to events such as the 2010 tsunami. |
Key stakeholders are our communities and individuals, regional government and partner non-governmental organisations. Our programs represent an integrated approach to improving health and wellbeing and we seek lasting improvement through cost-effective and high-impact interventions. read more ... |
