SurfAid is incorporated as a non-profit organisation in New Zealand, the United States and Australia. The field program offices are in Medan, North Sumatra; Tua Pejat, the regional capital of the Mentawai Islands; Sikakap, the sub-district capital of Pagai, Mentawai Islands; Gunungsitoli, the capital of Nias; Padang, West Sumatra; Sumba; and Bima, Sumbawa.

The Code requires members to meet high standards of corporate governance, public accountability and financial management.
